TECNIFIBRE NRG2

Tecnifibre NRG2 is a power-and-comfort multifilament built on Elastyl fibres, delivering explosive depth and a plush, cushioned feel. Power is the point — control is a secondary consideration — which makes it a favourite of flat, hard-hitting counter-punchers. It is offered in a single colour.

It is the power multifilament of the range — more trampoline and depth than X-One Biphase, softer and less crisp.

On-Court Performance

Depth comes with almost no effort. The Elastyl fibres store and return energy, so the ball jumps off the stringbed with easy pace.

The feel is very plush — some testers call it almost mushy — with excellent shock absorption and low vibration.

Control is the trade-off. On full swings the ball can sail, so it rewards players who use the string's power deliberately rather than swinging all-out.

The thinner 1.24 gauge leans further toward power; the 1.32 gauge adds resistance and a bit more control while keeping the pace.

Who Should Use It

  • Flat, hard-hitting baseliners and counter-punchers who want free depth

  • Players with arm sensitivity who also want power

  • Defenders who need to redirect pace with minimal effort

  • Players in low-powered, control-oriented racquets

  • Doubles players who want easy depth on returns

Who Should Not Use It

  • Players who want a controlled, low trajectory

  • Heavy topspin baseliners who rely on bite

  • Advanced players who over-hit with a powerful string

  • Frequent string breakers

Hybrid Setups & Performance Adjustments

Power
Already the power option — raise tension, or use a poly in the crosses, if the ball flies long.

Control
String toward the upper tension range, or pair with a poly cross.

Spin
Put a shaped poly in the mains and NRG2 in the crosses.

Comfort
Full bed at moderate tension is very arm-friendly.

Tension Stability
Holds tension well for a multi — expect a long, gradual softening.

Durability
Hybrid with a poly main if you break the mains quickly.
