HEAD VELOCITY MLT

HEAD Velocity MLT is a benchmark multifilament — around 1,000 flexible microfibres tuned for comfort, but with above-average control and spin for the category. HEAD built it as a balanced string rather than a pure power multi, and at its price it competes with far more expensive options. It is offered in natural, black, blue, yellow and pink.

It is the control-oriented multifilament of HEAD's range — more precise than Reflex MLT, softer and livelier than RIP Control.

On-Court Performance

Comfort is excellent. The flexible multifilament build gives low vibration and strong shock absorption, making it genuinely arm-friendly.

Unlike many soft multis, it does not play uncontrollably. Power is sufficient rather than explosive, and the trajectory is manageable, which is why testers found it so versatile.

Spin is respectable for a non-poly — the textured black version helps a little — but it will not snap back like a shaped polyester.

Durability is the limitation. It is not built for big poly-style hitters, but for touch and all-court players it lasts reasonably well.

Power
String toward the low end of the range, or pair with gut in the mains.

Control
Already control-leaning for a multi — string a full bed toward the upper range.

Spin
Put a shaped poly in the mains and Velocity in the crosses.

Comfort
Full bed at moderate tension; drop 1–2 kg for more.

Tension Stability
Holds tension well — string mid-range and expect a long, gradual softening.

Durability
Hybrid with a poly in the mains if you break strings, or move to the 1.30 mm gauge.
