HEAD LYNX TOUCH

HEAD Lynx Touch is a round, co-extruded co-polyester monofilament aimed at players who want poly control with more comfort, pocketing and feel than a traditional firm polyester. A softer, more elastic outer layer makes the response plusher and more forgiving without giving up the predictable, low-powered behaviour of a control string. It comes in anthracite grey.

It is the comfort option in HEAD's poly range — the softest full poly HEAD makes, sitting well below Lynx Tour and Hawk on stiffness.

On-Court Performance

At impact the ball sinks into the stringbed noticeably more than with a standard poly. The feel is soft and muted, with less shock transferred to the arm on clean and off-centre hits alike.

Despite the soft polymers, control is genuinely poly-like. Testers found the trajectory predictable and the string easy to place, living up to the "touch" name on drop shots and volleys.

Spin and bite are modest — the round profile and soft feel do not grab the ball the way a shaped poly does — so this is a control-and-comfort string rather than a spin tool.

Tension loss is on the higher side, as with most soft polys, but reviewers reported that the control held up even as the stringbed loosened.

Power
Lower tension a touch, or pair with a lively multifilament in the mains.

Control
Use a full bed toward the top of the tension range, or a firmer poly in the crosses.

Put a shaped poly in the mains and Lynx Touch in the crosses for comfort with more bite.

Comfort
Already the soft option — string on the low side and keep a relaxed grip for maximum plushness.

Tension Stability
String mid-range; soft polys drift more, so restring on a schedule rather than waiting for breakage.

Move to the thicker gauge, or hybrid with a firmer poly, if you break or notch strings quickly.
