BABOLAT XPLORE

Babolat Xplore is a control-oriented multifilament. Hundreds of PU-bonded polyamide filaments give a soft, comfortable impact, but Babolat has tuned it for consistency rather than raw power — it is lower-powered than most multis and holds its tension unusually well, staying playable long after a typical multifilament has gone soft. It is offered in blue and grey.

It is the control-and-consistency multifilament in Babolat's range, where Addixion+ leans toward durability and the older Xcel leans toward power and comfort.

On-Court Performance

Comfort is high — the bonded multifilament core cushions impact well and suits arms that cannot tolerate poly.

Power is modest for a multifilament. The stringbed is controlled and predictable, so players who find most multis too lively will appreciate it.

Tension maintenance is a genuine strength — Xplore holds its number far better than the multifilament average and stays consistent over its life.

Spin and bite are limited, as with any smooth multifilament; the string rewards flatter, more placement-based games.

Who Should Use It

  • Players with arm injuries who also want control

  • Club players who find most multifilaments too powerful

  • Players who want a multi that stays consistent for weeks

  • Flat hitters and doubles players

  • Anyone stepping down from poly for comfort but not wanting a trampoline

Who Should Not Use It

  • Players who want the explosive power multifilaments are known for

  • Heavy topspin players who need bite

  • String-breakers — a smooth multi will not last under heavy spin

  • Players who want maximum touch and feel over control

Hybrid Setups & Performance Adjustments

Power
String toward the low end for control, or a touch higher tension is fine because the string is not powerful to begin with.

Control
A full bed already plays controlled; raise tension slightly if you need the launch even lower.

Spin
Pair with a shaped poly in the mains if spin matters; Xplore alone is a control-and-comfort string.

Comfort
A full bed at low-to-mid tension is very forgiving — one of the better choices for a sensitive arm that still wants control.

Tension Stability
Its best trait — string it and expect weeks of consistent play.

Durability
Use the 1.35 gauge for more life, and avoid pairing it with an abrasive poly cross.
